Upcoming Events

It's hard to believe that by this time next week I'll be back home! I'm coming back for about 10 days to attend Emily's wedding and visit family. Some of the things I intend to do while I'm home: eat a lot of Mexican food, go dancing with the High Desert folks, weep profusely when I see how big Alex and Charlie have gotten, laze around with the cat, and do some minor shopping.

But between now and then, things are going to be fairly busy. Tomorrow I have junior high lessons in the morning and elementary in the afternoon. About once a month I'll be visiting an elementary school with my English teacher from TJHS. She hasn't taught at elementary before and is relying on me for a lot of it, so I'm a little nervous about it. I'm guessing I'll be pretty tired by the end of the day. On Friday, I'm visiting one of the special education schools. I really like the students and teachers there, so I want to do an especially good job, but it's a little more difficult and requires more preparation since the lessons are a lot more free form. I'm a little worried that my lessons won't be good enough or that I won't present the information in a way the students understand. So that's adding to my anxiety level for the time being. However, I do know that my visit to that school has the potential to be very satisfying and enjoyable, so I'm trying not to focus too much on the things that worry me.

I've also been asked to prepare several activities for junior high classes on Monday, but I've gotten a good start on making those, so I'm not too stressed about that. I think that if I can make it to the weekend, I'll pretty much be home free. Now I just need to make sure I've got all my travel arrangements in order. I hope to see some of you next week!
