Upcoming Events: Surf Camp!

It's been a while since I posted anything; things have felt very busy lately. I've had more work than usual, and Yosakoi practices are starting up. I've sort of unofficially quit hip hop, though I need to talk to the instructor so she doesn't think I've dropped off the face of the earth. Coming up this weekend is surf camp, where I will be camping with Sasha and Julie, renting a surf board, and taking group lessons with a bunch of other JETs. There was a surf camp last year and apparently it was a lot of fun, so I thought I would try it this year. I doubt I'll have much luck with the surfing but it will be nice to spend time at the beach. It's also a part of Kochi I don't think I've been to before.

Since coming back, I've gotten some unexpected birthday presents. Takashi sent me omiyage from the northernmost point in Japan; they are several kinds of caramels (including butter caramels and lavender caramels) and a box of cookies. I didn't know he was sending me anything, so it was quite a surprise. It made me really happy.

Also, today I had a somewhat odd meeting with Masa. He asked if I was free and said that he just wanted to talk to me for five minutes. I thought there was some big serious discussion coming, but it turned out that he wanted to give me some cake from his favorite bakery. He didn't really have time to stick around and do anything since he has work tomorrow, but he was in town for a haircut and wanted to deliver the cake. I saw him for all of ten minutes before he left again. I don't know what to make of him; it had been several weeks since the last time we talked, so I figured he had lost interest in me, which was fine by me. But then he comes and gives me cake. Whenever he leaves there's always sort of an awkward moment where I'm trying to figure out if he's waiting for me to give him a hug or something, but he never makes a move to do anything himself. So I don't do anything either. I don't really know what to think at this point.

Anyhow, that's most of the interesting news for the past while. All in all, things are going pretty well here.
