Genki: Weekend 1

Last weekend was the opening weekend of the Tosaben Musical, and it was a really great time. All three shows went very well, though the audiences at two of them were quite small. Still, it felt good to be on stage and everyone did a great job. I feel like I've finally reached the point where my lines come almost automatically and I can focus on my expression rather than having to search my memory for the next words. I still may make mistakes, but overall things have really come together.

Going on tour with everyone really is a lot of fun. On Sunday we went by bus, and we could all chat on the way. When we had spare time at the venues we also got to mess around a bit. In Aki, three of the guys came up with a game where one person hides somewhere in the seats, and everyone else tries to guess which row they're in. I joined in for a bit; it was surprisingly fun. It was also nice just being included in a group I'm not usually a part of. That's definitely a great thing about Genki, that it makes it easier to get to know people you might not be close to otherwise.

Although it was very tiring to be running around getting the props ready, figuring out the technical details of each theater, and putting on the show, there's nothing I would rather have done with  my weekend. Genki is a really enjoyable and satisfying experience for me. I feel very close to the rest of the cast and crew, and the show itself gives me a lot of joy. I wish I had better words to describe it.

In any case, I'm already looking forward to next weekend. I really hope lots of people will come to see the show. It's especially fun when you have a responsive audience, and more importantly, I want to raise a lot of money for the scholarship. But regardless of how successful the musical is in technical terms, I know it's going to be exciting and awesome for everyone involved.
