This weekend, the movie Alien was playing at Toho Cinema, the movie theater in the mall. I went with a big group of other foreigners (mostly ALTs) to see it tonight. I was quite surprised to realize at the beginning of the film that I'd never actually seen it before. I've seen Aliens and the rest of the sequels, but somehow I'd never seen the first one. So I got to see it for the first time on the big screen, which was cool. I enjoyed it a great deal, and I'm hoping there'll be another group outing to see the second film, which will be playing next weekend.
In other news, I recently joined a new Japanese class. It's an intermediate level class held at a college campus downtown. I'm not actually sure which college it is, though. Anyhow, the class is free to attend, and I'm enjoying it a lot. Most of my classmates are ladies from the Philippines. Two friends of mine, Cat and Kathy, are also in the class. Cat has been going to Japanese class with this particular teacher for a few years now; I think she also taught at the Kochi International Association. This class includes some reading comprehension and kanji lessons, which I think is a good thing. It feels nice to be going to a class again, and I feel like I'm getting back on track with studying Japanese. I really don't do well studying alone for a long stretch of time. So that's the most recent excitement.
Next weekend some of the girls are planning on taking a short trip to the East side of Kochi Prefecture to go to the beach and maybe do some snorkeling. It's far enough that we'd probably stay overnight in a hotel on Saturday. Of course, it being rainy season, our plans depend on the weather being decent, so it's not set in stone.
