"In ____ more days I'll be leaving Japan." I've told myself this every day for the past two weeks or so, but it doesn't seem to get any more real. Still, even if it isn't sinking in just yet, I'm enjoying the process of cleaning up/out my apartment and packing for what feels like a very long vacation. I've scrubbed nearly everything in the apartment, and vacuumed or swept the floors, and it's looking very nice.
As kind of a treat, last night I got gel nails done at a little salon. They feel pretty strange, but I like how they look. And they're holding up remarkably well to the scrubbing I've been doing today; they seem to be stronger than my real nails, actually. I don't think it's something I'll do often, but I'm enjoying them a great deal for now. Unfortunately the accuracy of my typing has gone down quite a bit.
Today and tomorrow are the real "business days", the days where I have to close my accounts and settle up my bills. I'm a little bit anxious about getting everything done correctly, but I think it'll be okay. Today I closed my bank account without any assistance, so I'm feeling rather proud of myself.
Although I know I'll miss Kochi, right now I'm mostly just excited to be coming home.
