So, I'm having kind of a hard time keeping track of what we did when, but here are some more of the things we did before Mom and Brett headed home yesterday.
In Kochi:
- Kochi Castle
Highlights: free English-speaking tour guide, iron spikes on castle walls to repel ninjas.
- Hirome Ichiba
Highlights: Drinks with Philip and Catriona, katsuo no tataki (lightly seared bonito) for Brett, being approached by random strangers as usual.
- Brico (home improvement store)
Highlights: Buying a microwave! Hot damn!
In Kyoto:
- Kinkakuji (The Golden Pavilion)
- Gion District
- Kiyomizudera
- Surviving the incredibly crowded buses
In Osaka:
- Namba City (shopping mall)
- Riding the Shinkansen (bullet train)
- Snow!
When possible, I'll try to go back and relate some of the stories from our travels, but so much went on that it's hard to know where to start. I'm considering starting a Picasa photo album or something along those lines because this blog isn't ideal for sharing pictures. In any case, I want to say thanks to Mom and Brett for coming to visit me and for being great travel buddies!
