From the beginning of this week, I was very freaked out about getting my work done. Since I'd been in the mountains all weekend, I didn't have any free time. Usually if I know I have a lot of things to make, I'll work on them at home over the weekend, but this time around it wasn't an option.
On Monday I had two Jeopardy games due, on Wednesday I had elementary lessons, and on Thursday I needed two Jeopardy games and another hour's worth of activities. In addition to my actual work, I had two stage rehearsals for the dance recital and one regular hip hop class. Major panic set in when it turned out that the stage rehearsals took about 3 hours each.
However, it turned out that there wasn't really a reason for me to be so high-strung. I had already made the Jeopardy games because the teacher had asked for and then not used them a few weeks prior. The elementary classes went smoothly. It also turned out that I didn't need to prepare a second hour of activities for Thursday. Of course, I wasn't told this until I arrived on Thursday morning, so I had scrambled to put together some new worksheets and games. But it's much better to have worksheets I don't need than to arrive and be asked for things I don't have.
In the end, this turned out to be an almost normal week. But because I had thought I didn't have time to get everything done, I was on edge for all of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was pretty unpleasant. It wasn't until Thursday that I figured out that things were actually okay.
In other news, my supervisor told me yesterday that because of the inconvenience of me coming home in June, I'll be staying at my current schools next semester. I'm not sure what the connection is between those two things (maybe because my current schools are already expecting me to be gone?), but I'm not complaining. I'm really happy that I get to keep my base schools. The strange thing is that while I know I'll be at those schools, the teachers I work with don't know yet whether they will be transferred. They work for the Board of Education rather than for a particular school, so they can be moved around at random. It happens pretty frequently. I'm hoping I'll get to work with the same teachers again, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
Hi Andrea, I am glad you are safe and sound. About staying at the same schools; is this a punishment? It sounded like you liked your schools and most of the staff. So this sounds like a good thing not a repremand. I am so glad you are having fun and things are working out so well for you. Love you and miss you tons. christina
