Things have been pretty busy for a while now, mostly on account of the musical. Nothing major has happened. Still, I thought I'd give you an update. In Genki news, Sasha and I have been working a ton on the dance we're choreographing, and we've pretty much finished it tonight. I'd say we've put in 20 hours or more up to this point. Although we've finished making the dance, we still have to actually learn it so that we can teach it to the others. So we're not in the clear just yet.
This weekend I'll be going with the rest of the Genki crew up to Motoyama for the production retreat, where we'll learn the songs and dances for the musical and attempt a full run-through. I think it'll be a lot of fun; I just hope everyone can learn the dance we've made. Sasha has pretty strongly resisted my attempts at dumbing it down, so it's going to be challenging, I think. But it'll be pretty cool once we've gotten it figured out.
In other news, this week I had my last private lesson with my current Japanese teacher. For several weeks now I've really been struggling with studying. I strongly disliked the books we were using, and my motivation was pretty low as well. At Monday's lesson the teacher told me that she's leaving Evergreen and will be teaching at a different location. She asked if I'd like to continue lessons with her at the new place, and I declined. Since I really haven't been getting anything out of my lessons for the past several weeks, and since I'm so busy right now, I figured this was a good time to bow out. It was a little awkward, but she was pretty gracious about it. I have ordered a new textbook, though, so I'm going to try it out on my own and see what I think. After the musical ends, I'm going to look into finding a new teacher. Jamie, another ALT, has been taking lessons by Skype, so I want to ask him how that's been going. In any case, I haven't given up on learning Japanese.
My brain's a little fried at the moment, so that's all the news I can think of. Things are going well here and I've been enjoying life lately. The weather is getting slightly warmer, although I'm guessing there will be a few more weeks of cold. Last year there was sort of a false spring and I think that's probably what we're having now. Anyhow, that's all for the time being, so I'll leave you with SHINee and their ridiculous hair (and incredible dancing). This is the song that's been stuck in my head the most recently.
Forgot to mention, but the song is called "Lucifer". SHINee is the group's name, and they are Korean.
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea, That was catchy! What do you mean ridiculous hair? Has it been so long that you have seen your brother? I love you Brett! Sounds like you are happy and well. The boys are so big. You are going to be so surprised this summer. Alexander will still remind me that you are going to sleep when we are going to school. They sure love you! We all love you and miss you tons! Christina
