Both this weekend and next are three day weekends. Monday is "Respect for the Aged Day", and next Friday is "Autumnal Equinox Day". This weekend I can't get out of town because Sunday is the Sports Festival at YJHS, which I have to attend. However, I've still got a number of plans.
Tomorrow night is looking to be a busy one. The female ALTs from my Board of Education are going to have our own enkai of sorts. We're going to a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner and drinks. I've been looking forward to it ever since Janis suggested it. Afterward, I'm going to meet up with Fuuta for a date. I hadn't originally planned to double book myself for the evening (I figured Elizabeth at least would be up for drinking all night), but when I was talking to Fuuta, it sounded like tomorrow is the only workable night for some time. He was hoping I could come to Nakamura, but it wasn't feasible since I have plans Friday night and Sports Day on Sunday morning.
Our conversation when attempting to plan our next date was pretty entertaining. We had been texting back and forth for a while, and then I went to bed. A few minutes later, he called me. I was mildly annoyed to be woken up (it was about 11:30 pm) but still fairly happy to be talking to him. He suggested meeting on Friday, and I told him that I had plans for the evening. From that point for a minute or two afterward, the conversation basically went like this:
Fuuta: "Komatta, ne" (We're stuck/in trouble, aren't we?)
Andrea: "Un." (Yeah.)
Fuuta: "Hmm, komatta..."
He kept saying "Komatta" as if something would magically change. I think he was hoping I'd change my mind and cancel my current plans. But I wasn't going to bail on the girls when I'd been looking forward to an evening with them. Eventually Fuuta asked what time my plans were for, and I said from 7 pm until midnight. He was actually willing to drive into the city to meet me at midnight, so I agreed to the date. Today I talked to Elizabeth and Janis, and it sounds like we may all just split up when the restaurant closes at 10:00, so I told Fuuta that I could meet him earlier, after all.
So, I'm guessing Friday will be a long night. But it should be fun. On Saturday I've got no plans, and then Sunday morning I have to go to the junior high for Sports Festival. If it's anything like last year, they'll probably just have me sit with some of the guests from the school board. I'm perfectly fine with that; I feel no need to run in a relay. I'll stick to the shade, thank you very much.
Next weekend is also a three day weekend starting on Friday. I haven't got anything booked, but I'm thinking of going to Hiroshima. Sasha expressed some interest in going with me as her plans for camping might fall through. I need to start looking into hostels and train tickets and such. I'm pretty bad about logistics, I usually rely on other people to take care of the planning. But I do want to get out of town for the weekend since it's such a good opportunity.
In baseball terms "two games in one day/evening" is a "double-header." Sounds like you'll have a super fun "double-header" tomorrow night! Have fun!!!
