Upcoming: Golden Week

Well, Monday marks the beginning of Golden Week, the week of many consecutive holidays. I don't have any travel plans because I more or less assumed I couldn't take off Tuesday and Wednesday (the two days I have to work next week). And I probably need to save up my vacation days anyhow, so that I'll have some left over after my visit home in August. (Did I mention that before? I'm coming home in August!)

Looking back on last year's Golden Week, it was then that Takashi came to visit. Somehow it feels like it was a lot longer than one year ago. I haven't talked to him since last fall; he stopped signing on to Skype, which was our main mode of communication, and eventually I took the hint. Anyhow, although I didn't travel last year, it was a pretty cool vacation in that it was like having a boyfriend for the holidays. Although I don't have any plans for this year, I'm hopeful that maybe Tatsuya will have some free time to hang out. I mean, with three of the five weekdays being national holidays, how much time can teachers be expected to be at school during Golden Week? Maybe I'd rather not know; the answer to that one could be pretty depressing. Still, I'm hopeful that I'll hear from him this week.

I guess I do have some plans for the week, now that I think about it. I've finally decided that the weather is stable enough for me to pack up my winter clothes and bust out the summer clothing. Although it's not hot by any means, it's warm enough that I shouldn't need my heavy sweaters and thermal layers anymore. That came as an exciting revelation. During the winter you have to wear so many layers of clothing that it's really refreshing when Spring sets in and you can be comfortable wearing just one or two layers. Today I may have gotten my first sunburn of the warm season; my arms were uncovered during the half-hour bike ride home from elementary school, and now they're a little pink. It finally seems like the warm weather is here to stay.
