Quiet Weekend

Although I had plans to go to Matsuyama last weekend with three of my friends, in the end I got sick and we had to cancel. I had noticed that my throat was sore on Tuesday, but I assumed it was just from yelling over the top of four classes of 5th and 6th graders. By Thursday I had a sore throat, runny nose, headache and fever. I went to the hospital by myself for the first time, and it wasn't so difficult as I thought it would be. (Side note: It wasn't an emergency. When you want to see a doctor here, you go to the hospital, not a doctor's office.) I took Friday off from work and slept a good portion of the day.

Needless to say, I had a quiet weekend. I felt considerably better on Saturday, so in the evening I went out to dinner with Sasha. She stayed over, and in the morning we went to the mall to wander around. That evening I went to a birthday party/potluck, and that was the end of the weekend. I was pretty disappointed about having to cancel the Matsuyama trip, so I'm glad I got to do a few things rather than sitting around alone all weekend.

As a bonus, here's a K-pop song I've become addicted to recently. The song is "Venus" by Shinhwa. There are two versions of the music video. The first version has some dancing cut in with scenes of the guys chasing a random blond woman around. Along the way they are confronted by such obstacles as an angry dog, cobwebs, and a rain of spears (???). I prefer the dance version, so that's the one I'm including. The choreography is pretty snazzy, I think. Although it's not relevant to anything, I think it's interesting to note that the guys in this group are all in their 30's. Which is not especially old, but considerably older than the members of many of today's most popular groups. Anyhow, enjoy!

Also, if you're curious about the meaning of the song, this site has a translation of the lyrics.
