Taco Night

Last Thursday, I had Tatsuya over for dinner again. This week's menu: tacos! I cooked the meat the night before so that I'd have time to try again if I screwed up really badly, but to my great relief it turned out fine. It was exciting for me because I almost never cook meat, so even browning a little bit of ground beef felt like a big step forward.

Another exciting thing was that it was Tatsuya's first introduction to tacos. He told me that before coming over, he hadn't really been sure what a taco was, other than that it was some kind of food. It was fun to think I was introducing him to something new. I didn't have anything very interesting to put in the tacos, just seasoned meat, lettuce, and cheese, but Tatsuya really liked them. I think he likes simple and plain foods. So we both enjoyed our dinner.

I think next time we meet up, we may go out for dinner. I'm all for that plan, because I've kind of run out of things that are simple enough for me to cook. I'm sure I can figure something else out if I set my mind to it, but I wouldn't mind taking a break. As always, I'm not sure exactly when I'll see him again. So far it has been working out better than I expected. Between the softball game and me cooking dinner twice, since Golden Week I've gotten to see him about once a week, which is not so bad. He invited me to watch another softball game this weekend, but I already had plans to go to a friend's birthday party in another town, so I had to pass. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get to see him this week, as well.

  1. Andy, Do we need to start sending you Hamburger Helpers? That way you can look like you can cook. They do not taste great but you would look good until he eats it! Keep up the good work and let us know if you need some recipes! We love you and miss you tons! Christina and the gang
